REPORT TO: Engineering Supervisor
The Automation Systems Designer prepares electrical system designs for the development, manufacturing, implementation, and ongoing support of Cyclonaire’s product solutions. The Designer applies design principles and specification to the design of process instrumentation, power distribution, communications, and supporting industrial software systems. Practical experience with electromechanical process control components, facility and localized electrical power distribution, network integration, and automation and HMI software is required. The Designer’s duties and responsibilities will align with one of two internal design disciplines (Electrical Design or Controls) while maintaining a working knowledge of Cyclonaire’s comprehensive electrical design principles.
Electrical Design Focus – primarily responsible for electrical schema design with secondary focus of Controls
Controls Focus – primarily responsible for PLC and HMI software design with secondary focus of Electrical Design
Associate’s degree (A. A.) in an applicable technical field or 2-5 years related experience and/or training in Industrial Electrical. Equivalent combinations of education and practical experience will be considered.
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have exposure to Rockwell software; RSLogix 500, 5000, Factory Talk View ME, SE Development software; HTML; Microsoft Office Suite; My SQL, Access, SolidWorks Electrical (or equivalent), AutoCAD, and/or other applicable software programs. Previous Electrical Design or System Controls Design is preferred.
Language abilities is a plus. Candidate must have practical familiarity with industrial controls and system design, including PLCs, HMIs, VFDs, and various other field instrumentation devices. Candidate must demonstrate interpersonal communication skills and willingness to work in a team environment. Exposure to Lean product development and concurrent engineering principles is a plus.
